Inflammation & the Immune System

June 19, 2017

As you may have guessed by now the main topics that we believe result in good health and wellbeing revolve around:

  1. inflammation (at the cellular level), and
  2. maintaining a good immune system.

There is increasing evidence that the underlying cause of many diseases is chronic inflammation at the cellular level. The key to wellness, and the treatment of ‘unwellness’ is the ability to reduce inflammation at the cellular level, as well as boosting and strengthening the immune system whilst enhancing the removal of free radicals.

Cellular Inflammation Aggravates Many Chronic Conditions

Cellular inflammation is a complex process that accompanies and aggravates many chronic pathological conditions, such as diabetes, arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, and many more as outlined in the diagram below.

The Immune System

The immune system is the body’s defense against infectious organisms and other invaders. Through a series of steps called the immune response, the immune system attacks organisms and substances that invade body systems and cause disease. The immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect the body. One of the important cells involved are white blood cells, also called leukocytes, which come in two basic types that combine to seek out and destroy disease-causing organisms or substances.
